Godwick free-range turkeys have been raised to traditional standards on the family farm in Norfolk for over 50 years.

They take pride in the time and care taken to slow rear their turkeys to the exceptionally high welfare standards expected of them by being members of the Traditional Farm Fresh Turkey Association.

What is a free-range turkey?

The UK has strict regulations for free-range poultry, including turkeys. They must:

• Have access to at least 4sqm of outdoor space during the day, for each bird.

• Have access to outdoor space with fresh vegetation.

• Be able to display natural behaviours, such as scratching for bugs and exercising freely.

The turkeys at Godwick in Norfolk are truly free-range with space to forage, peck and scratch.

At Godwick Norfolk Turkeys the family go beyond these standards, dedicating time and energy every day to looking after their birds’ health and welfare to an even higher level. All of their turkeys come with The Golden Turkey® Quality Assurance Guarantee which is only applied to birds meeting every aspect of the code of quality requirements:

• Produced solely on selected farms.

• Naturally reared on a quality cereal-based diet.

• Grown to full maturity to the highest welfare standards.

• Dry plucked and game hung for at least seven days, according to tradition.

Every Godwick turkey comes with full instructions to ensure perfection.

Godwick Free-Range Turkey V Supermarket Free-Range Turkey

In addition to knowing your turkey has had a great life living outdoors with the  ability to behave naturally, Godwick can also guarantee their free-range turkeys will taste better than  supermarket equivalents. Most supermarket free-range turkeys are processed before they are fully mature,  then wet plucked and gas flushed and held in plastic bags for up to seven weeks.

This intensive, commercial processing results in turkey that lacks a rounded flavour. Godwick free-range turkeys are allowed to develop to full maturity and are processed on site to traditional standards. They are:

• Dry plucked by hand.

• Hung for 14 days to mature.

• Packaged in breathable wax paper.

These factors ensure an exceptional tasting turkey with rich flavour, firmer texture, and great roasting results. You can order your Godwick free-range turkey for delivery now online here.
