Jenny O'Neill heads to Soho for an indulgent eating experience at Eran Tibi's Kapara
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Kapara, a hidden gem nestled in the vibrant streets of Soho. From the moment I stepped in, it was clear that this restaurant is something special. The atmosphere has an Art Deco vibe that gives it a unique, stylish charm. Even on a Wednesday night, the place was buzzing with energy, yet it maintained an intimate and welcoming feel that made the dining experience all the more enjoyable.
The highlight of the evening, without a doubt, was the food. Kapara’s menu - which draws heavily on Eastern Mediterranean flavours - is a culinary masterpiece, showcasing a variety of dishes that are out of this world. Every bite was a testament to the restaurant's commitment to high-quality ingredients and innovative cooking techniques. Each dish was a delightful surprise, bursting with flavours.
One of the standout aspects of our visit was the exceptional service, led by the head waitress, Jess. She was an absolute joy to have around. Her deep knowledge of the menu was impressive; she could describe each dish with such detail and passion that it heightened our anticipation with every course. Jess’s enthusiasm was infectious, and her recommendations were spot on. Her thoughtful touch made the experience feel personalised and special.
Adding to the evening's charm was the general manager, Joe. He took the time to give us a tour of the restaurant, sharing its history and the vision behind it. Joe’s deep knowledge and genuine love for Kapara were evident in every word. His insights into the restaurant’s creation and its culinary philosophy added another layer to our appreciation of the meal. It’s not often that you encounter such a passionate team, and it’s clear that this enthusiasm filters through every aspect of Kapara.
The Art Deco decor of the restaurant further enhances its allure. The design is elegant yet vibrant, with a mix of bold colors, sleek lines, and intricate details that create a visually stunning environment. They even have 50 covers outside that you can enjoy this wonderful food in a delightful setting.
Despite being a midweek evening, Kapara was lively and filled with a diverse crowd of diners, which speaks volumes about its popularity. The restaurant manages to strike the perfect balance between being a bustling social hub and a place where you can enjoy an intimate, relaxed meal. The lively atmosphere added to the enjoyment of the evening, making it feel like a special occasion.
From start to finish, my experience at Kapara was nothing short of extraordinary. The combination of superb food, outstanding service, and a captivating setting makes it a must-visit. Whether you’re a food enthusiast looking for your next culinary adventure or simply someone seeking a memorable dining experience, Kapara delivers on all fronts. If I can give you my opinion on what to eat, I would go for the Frenah Bread (made fresh in-house), Wood Fire Leeks, Ribs & Rice & the Aubergine Mess.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend Kapara highly enough. The food is phenomenal, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere enchanting. Jess and Joe, with their passion and dedication, truly elevate the experience, making it not just a meal, but a memorable event. Hidden in the heart of Soho, Kapara is a testament to what makes the dining scene in this area so exciting. Do yourself a favour and visit them – you won’t be disappointed.
