Last year, the Michelin guides results were leaked on Twitter a day early, so this year they weren't taking any chances. In front of a room full of industry professionals and chefs, the Michelin team yesterday revealed which restaurants had been awarded its illusive stars. The guide, now in its 116th year, announced that 20 new restaurants across Britain had entered the book and we were there to watch it all unfold. The biggest cheers in the room went to... The Raby Hunt, County Durham Self-taught chef, James Close's Darlington restaurant was the only establishment to be awarded two stars in this years guide alongside those that had retained their stars. The Fat Duck, Bray Following the restaurant's six-month closure last year The Fat Duck lost all three of its Michelin stars. These have now been regained. The Michelin inspectors visited Heston Blumenthal's restaurant eight times to be completely sure, and it was described by the editor of the Michelin guide, Rebecca Burr, as “invigorated, rejuvenated and unquestionably worthy”. The Ritz Restaurant, London This famous 1920s London institution was awarded its first Michelin star! Veeraswamy, London London’s oldest Indian restaurant celebrated its 90th birthday earlier this year and has been awarded one Michelin star for the first time. Trinity, London Former Claridge's chef Adam Byatt and his restaurant Trinity have now received one Michelin star after 11 years in the limelight. Read our interview with Adam here...
