More than 13,000 of you voted in the Great British Food Awards, and when it came to selecting your top British Chef, there was a clear winner!
This year's reader-voted Great British Food Awards were bigger than ever, with thousands of readers voting for their foodie favourites across 20 categories. James Martin bagged two of these awards. The first of these was for 'Most Influential Chef, Cook or Food Writer', and the second was 'Best Cookbook', awarded to James Martin's Great British Adventure: A celebration of Great British food. The book showcases the recipes James discovered while cooking and eating his way from coast to coast. It's a celebration of British food and local producers, something that is very important to the readers of Great British Food.
James was over the moon to find out about his double win.
“Wow. Just wow. First of all, thanks to everyone who voted for me ⎯ it means a lot," he said. "I think people like my food because I just try to be honest with them, and respect the ingredients. Whenever I create a new dish, I’m always thinking about the reader or the viewer, and if they will be able to make it at home.”
Your favourite chef has been busy this year, working on his latest cookbook, Butter. It's packed full of deliciously decadent recipes celebrating this humble yet vital ingredient. He also bagged yet another award - Fortnum & Mason 2021 Personality of the Year Award.
"I’ve been fortunate, but I also think you make your own luck. To understand food, you have to grow and change; there’s no quick fix," he concludes.
