Great British Food Awards 2020: Entries Open!
NatashaLS
2020 is the seventh anniversary of the Great British Food Awards, a celebration of the country’s finest local, regional and artisanal produce, judged by many of Britain’s biggest names in food and drink.
WHY ENTER:
The Great British Food Awards offers producers and brands the opportunity to…
• Get your product in front of a panel of renowned chefs, food writers and critics
• Finalists and winners showcased in Great British Food’s Christmas edition (on sale 29 October 2020) and promoted heavily online
• Win an accolade and an endorsement from prestigious and influential names in food and drink
• Use branded winner and finalist logos on packaging and marketing - key consumer triggers in purchasing journeys
NEW FOR 2020
Every year we expand our categories, judges and opportunities to pick up a prize. This year we are delighted to announce a new category for startups, as well as offering additional regional awards across all our categories. These recognise quality and excellence across the regions and increase your opportunity to win an accolade.
THE 2020 JUDGES
This year there are 46 specialist categories to enter, each headed up by a celebrity/influencer judge. This year we welcome The Hairy Bikers, Michel Roux Jr, Raymond Blanc, Monica Galetti, Rosie Birkett, Martha Collison and many more to the judging panel, as well as our partner Booths, whose buyers are judging the Best Startup category as well as the overall Best British Product 2020, the supreme champion.
HOW TO GET STARTED
STEP ONE
Complete the online form and process your payment (£70 per product plus VAT). You can enter as many products as you like into multiple categories, and for an additional £20 enter your product into your own regional category.
Send two samples of each product entered to the following address as soon as possible: Jenny O’Neill, Great British Food Awards 2020, 1 Phoenix Court, Hawkins Road, Colchester, Essex, CO2 8JY.
STEP TWO
Our in-house team of experts will rigorously test every product, giving each a final mark of 15. Marks out of 10 are given for taste, and marks out of 5 are given for provenance - based on the information given in your entry form. We will also fill out detailed feedback forms for an additional £50+VAT.
STEP THREE
Our team will shortlist the highest-scoring 10-15 products in each category. Shortlisted companies and producers will then be required to send samples to our celebrity judges during late July/early August 2020. Our judges will pick one winner and two finalists in each category.
STEP FOUR
Winners will need to send samples to our studio for promotional photography by 2 October 2020. Category winners who wish to participate in our final Product of the Year, judged by Booths, will also need to provide an additional sample.
